If you’re anything like us, then you know how hard it can be to keep your car clean! Between messy kids tracking in mud, rushed trips through fast food drive-throughs, and rummaging through miscellaneous items that mysteriously made it into the car in the first place, organization seems like a fruitless task. Luckily, our friends over at Nifty have some great tips on how to keep your car pristine using common household items.
Hair Band Phone Holder
With many states passing hands-free driving laws, its increasingly important to ensure that you do not get caught in an illegal (or unsafe!) driving situation. If you ever need to take a call on the road and are without a traditional phone holder, then reach for a hair tie! All you have to do is loop the tie around your A/C vent, then wrap the open end around your phone. You may need to do this several times depending on the size of your phone and thickness of the band.
Suction Shower Caddy
Do you ever find yourself reaching for small items when you’re on the road? Need a place for your kid’s sippy cup and snacks as you drive? Look no further than a shower caddy! Choose a shower caddy with attachable suction cups and adhere the basket to your window. Remember, this can obstruct your view, so make sure that you are aware of all blind spots as you drive.
Over-the-Door Shoe Organizer
Looking for a way to maximize your trunk or backseat space? If you have too many small or mid-size items floating around, then affix an over-the-door shoe organizer to the back of your headrests. Cut some sturdy string and insert into the top holes of the shoe organizer. Tie the string together using the headrests as anchors. This solution works best for hatchbacks, vans, and SUVs. If you drive a sedan or smaller vehicle, you may need to cinch the string tighter so the organizer doesn’t disturb any backseat occupants.
Let’s be honest— we all eat in our cars! Ever end up with broken pieces of a granola bar on your car seats or mats? Those little morsels can be impossible to clean. The best way to avoid a potentially sticky situation is by using cupcake wrappers. Here’s how: Simply line your drink holders with the cupcake wrappers and place the food into the freshly protected space. This method is doubly effective for cold drinks as the wrappers will absorb any drippy condensation.
